Vancouver Korean Scholarship Foundation Hosts 2026 Scholarship Night… Reaching a Monumental Milestone of Surpassing 1,000 Cumulative Beneficiaries and $1.6 Million

Establishes New Partnership with Langara College… Awards Scholarships to 39 Next-Generation Korean Talents

Continuing to share for 28 years since establishment in 1999… "Former scholarship recipients continue to give back to society"

The Vancouver Korean-Canadian Scholarship Foundation (VKCSF) selected 39 scholarship recipients for 2026 and successfully held the ‘2026 Scholarship Night’ event at Langara College on Thursday, August 20.

At the event, attended by various distinguished guests including Senator Yonah Martin, BC Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Choi Byung-ha, Consul General Lee Kwang-seok of the Consulate General in Vancouver, and Mugunghwa Foundation Chairperson Oh Yu-soon, they encouraged and congratulated the scholarship recipients.

Established in 1999, VKCSF has continued its scholarship program without interruption for a single year, and this year it has set a significant milestone by producing 1,000 cumulative scholarship recipients and surpassing 1.6 million dollars in cumulative scholarships.

In particular, this year the foundation further expanded its solidarity with local higher education institutions and the scale of scholarship support by signing a new educational partnership with Langara College, following Vancouver Community College (VCC), with which it has maintained a cooperative relationship for the past three years.

The 39 scholarship recipients selected this time are outstanding young Korean talents majoring in various professional fields such as medicine (MD), pharmacy (PharmD), health sciences, business administration, and biochemistry at major universities including UBC, Queen's University, the University of Alberta, Langara College, and VCC.

In an official statement, the VKCSF Board of Directors expressed deep gratitude to the Korean community and sponsors who have generously shared their time, finances, and talents despite difficult economic conditions. They noted that a healthy virtuous cycle of sharing is firmly established, with former scholarship recipients growing into competent professionals to participate in community donation and service. Furthermore, they extended congratulations and encouragement to the 39 selected next-generation leaders and pledged to continue the scholarship program as a reliable pillar to illuminate the future of the Korean community.
